We consider you our patients, not our clients. We aim to do this in a modern, friendly and relaxed environment, so that you can feel confident and comfortable during your visits with us. The services we provide are health care services, and are provided by healthcare professionals. We promise you that at all times you will be treated with care and respect, and that we will always try to offer you the best solutions to your dental health problems, explaining all of your options clearly. Dentistry today has many facets, and we are able to offer a wide range of treatments, below are some of the things we can do to improve your smile.

Consultations

You may want to see the dentist to talk over a particular problem, discuss treatment options, or require a referral to a specialist. Our dentists are happy to talk to you, just call and make an appointment time. They will provide you with all of the options and information needed .

Xrays

Two 'bitewing' Xrays are usually recommended every two years or so. These enable us to see areas beneath fillings, where there may be decay, which is not detectable visually or with a dental probe.

In some case a single Pa Xray may be taken to check the roots of a particular tooth.

Regular Dental Examinations

It is important to have your teeth and mouth checked by a dentist, at least once a year. We can pick up small problems before they become big ones.

Your dentist is not just checking your teeth, there are symptoms that appear orally, that can indicate the presence of other health problems and they are trained to look for these.

Our dentists provide thorough dental and oral examinations and will give you fully itemised estimates for any options or treatment required.

Scales and Polishes

Taking care of your teeth and gums is extremely important. Gum disease is an extremely common yet often undiagnosed problem.

It can lead to bad breath, bleeding gums, discoloured teeth, inflammation and swelling, pain, infection and gum/bone and tooth loss.

There are direct links between gum disease and more serious health issues.

White Glass lonomer restorations

We will use this material most commonly in temporary filling situations, it can have fluoride releasing properties, but is more brittle in some situations, than the bonded composite, and will generally not wear as well.

White Composite Restorations

This is the most usual material we use now to restore teeth. It is an acrylic, tooth coloured, resin material, which is bonded to the tooth, and can be colour matched to existing enamel. It is excellent for use in posterior and anterior work. It can be used cosmetically to remodel the shape of teeth, fill gaps, and as a veneer for changing the colour of teeth.

Crown and Bridge Work

Crowns are tooth shaped caps that are custom made to fit over your teeth. Teeth that are heavily restored are weak, and can break. A crown will protect the tooth, and in some cases may be the only long term treatment. Root canalled teeth are even more likely to require crowning. Crowns can be made to match your teeth in porcelain or made in gold or metal alloy.

Amalgam Restorations

Wherever possible we will use an alternative to an amalgam filling but this is still the best material to use for a restoration of a tooth where the decay is under the gum line. The new composite fillings require bonding, and in an environment where there may be bleeding and we cannot get a good bond we may suggest an amalgam restoration.

If you are interested in removing amalgam restorations, to replace them with white composite fillings or porcelain crowns, we are very happy to discuss this with you as a treatment option.

Root Canal Therapy

Root canal is required when the pulp of the tooth has been damaged. A number of conditions can lead to the irreversible damage of the pulp; decay, deep fillings, trauma, tooth fracture, infection. Sometimes there is no apparent cause. The only option to root canal therapy is the extraction of the tooth.

All of our dentists carry out root canal treatment. We also have a visting specialist Dikesh, who we will refer the more complicated cases to.

Cosmetic Dentistry and Veneers

Cosmetic dentistry is the improving the look and shape of your teeth. There are many ways we can do this, from crown and bridge work to veneers or bleaching. In severe cases surgery or orthodontic treatment. Veneers can be made from composite resin or porcelain, and can be used to fill gaps, and change the shape or colour of teeth.

Extractions

We carry out regular dental extractions, and surgical extractions, including the extraction of impacted wisdom teeth, under local anaesthetic. If a general anaesthetic is required or in some complicated cases a referral to an Oral Surgeon will be given.

Dentures

There are two sorts of dentures, partial or complete. Partials are removable replacements for one or more lost teeth. They usually have acrylic teeth and can be made with an acrylic or chrome framework. Complete dentures replace all of the natural teeth in one or both jaws. These generally need replacing between 5-10 years, as the teeth become worn down, causing the bite to alter.
